The Behavioral Sustainable Development Lab

 People. Environment. Growth.

What do we do?

We conduct interdisciplinary research on sustainable development, with a focus on understanding and promoting the connections between human well-being and sustainable development.

Our studies typically examine how human behavior and decision-making affect the environment and contribute to sustainable development, as well as how sustainable development can improve the quality of life for individuals and communities.

We approach environmental issues from technological, behavioral, social, and educational perspectives and our research often has significant empirical and applied components.

Why study the behavioral aspects of sustainable development?

Sustainable development is a comprehensive and interdisciplinary field that aims to address environmental, social and economic challenges while ensuring that the needs of the present are met without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Behavioral sustainable development concentrates on understanding how the actions of individuals, communities, and organizations can affect sustainable development efforts and how these efforts can affect them.

Studying the behavioral aspects of sustainable development is important because it provides insight into how decisions that affect the environment and resources are made, while considering their effect on wellbeing. It can inform the development of strategies to encourage sustainable behaviors and help overcome barriers to sustainable development. It also plays an important role in designing effective policies and interventions and evaluating their impact on sustainable development efforts.
